The following slate of candidates was approved by the WEMTA Board at their December 3rd meeting:
President: Joel Verduin
President-Elect: Donna Smith
Treasurer: Kathy Sanders
Director At Large: (1 of 2 will be elected) Michele Green, Vicki Santacroce
Director Higher Education: (1 of 2 will be elected) Janet Amann, Allison Kaplan
Director Library Media: (2 of 4 will be elected) Renee Disch, LaNell Gill, Michelle Maniaci, Carol Neuser
Director Technology: (2 of 3 will be elected) Jeff Johnson [Withdrawn], Vicki Lyons, John Pederson
Members will have the opportunity to write in additional candidates for President, President-Elect, Treasurer and Director Technology when the ballot is posted on February 24. Currently registered WEMTA members will be able to vote for the candiates of their choice between February 24 and March 16. Election results will be announced prior to the WEMTA conference.
This year's ballot will also include a proposed change to the WEMTA bylaws to delete the phrase Except for the first set of Directors under these Bylaws (Initial Directors) in Article/Section 4.5.1. This phrase is no longer relevant as it applied only to the Directors elected after the current Bylaws were adopted in March 2007.
The work of the Election Committee in developing a slate of candidates this year was complicated by the impact of the changes in collective bargaining included in the budget repair bill. These changes have led to increased position responsibilities and uncertainties about the future educational roles of many of our members. WEMTA extends their deep appreciation to these candidates and their districts for their continued support of professional service and of WEMTA.
